Coast Village Road does the job a high street does elsewhere — three blocks of cafes, a bookshop, cars nosed in at an angle — and then the town vanishes behind hedges. East Valley Road and the lanes off it are walled in eugenia and live oak, with no sidewalk, no street lighting and addresses announced by a number on a post. Can the car be brought to San Ysidro Ranch or the Miramar?
Both properties take deliveries at the arrival court. The manager rings ahead so the valet team is expecting the car rather than discovering it parked. At a private address the exchange happens on the driveway apron rather than the road — the lanes off East Valley have no verge and no sidewalk, and a car left at the kerb blocks a whole hedged block for whoever comes next.
Is a full-size SUV workable on the hedged lanes?
Workable, with a caveat. Sight lines at the junctions are hedge-height, so creep out and expect to back up to a driveway when a landscaping truck fills the lane coming the other way. Turning circle matters more than width: several lanes off Sycamore Canyon Road end in a cul-de-sac with one apron wide enough to swing round on. Gate posts collect most of the damage.
