Malibu is the reason people rent convertibles in Los Angeles. Twenty-one miles of Pacific Coast Highway run from Topanga to the county line, and the good part is not the traffic through Cross Creek — it is the stretch past Zuma where the road opens up and the ocean is on your left the whole way. Turn inland on Malibu Canyon, Kanan Dume or Latigo and you get the switchbacks that make a 911 or a Urus worth the money.
Twenty-one miles of Malibu
Practically, Malibu is a weekend town with a one-road problem. PCH backs up on Saturday afternoons and after sunset at Point Dume, and the sheriff patrols the flat sections hard. Plan the canyon drive for the morning, keep the top down between Trancas and Nobu, and treat the coast road itself as scenery rather than a racetrack.
Getting a car up to Malibu
We deliver to Malibu homes, to the Malibu Beach Inn and Nobu Ryokan, and to houses up the canyons — Latigo, Corral and Encinal included, where the driveways are steep enough that we bring the car up rather than leave it on PCH. Delivery to Malibu is $100 from our LAX base and takes about 50 minutes in normal traffic, longer on summer weekends. Free delivery still applies if you collect at LAX, Burbank or Beverly Hills and drive out yourself.
Ground clearance and Malibu
The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is the Malibu car — small enough for the canyon hairpins, open for the coast run. The Lamborghini Urus is the better call if you are four people with beach gear, and the Mercedes-AMG G 63 handles the unpaved driveways above Point Dume that a low supercar cannot. The Ferrari SF90 is spectacular on PCH but scrapes on the steeper canyon driveways — tell us the address and we will say so honestly.

Frequently asked questions
Can a supercar handle the Malibu canyon driveways?
Some of them, not all. Latigo, Encinal and the upper Corral Canyon driveways are steep and often have a lip at the street. The Ferrari SF90 and Porsche 911 have limited ground clearance — send us the address and we will tell you whether the car will clear it or suggest the Urus or G 63 instead.
How long does delivery to Malibu take?
About 50 minutes from our LAX base outside peak hours. On summer Saturdays, PCH through Santa Monica and Topanga can add another 30–40 minutes, so we schedule Malibu deliveries for the morning where we can.
What is the minimum rental period?
One day. Daily, weekly and monthly rates, with long stays running month-to-month and no lock-in.
Is a credit card or a credit check required?
Neither. A valid licence and a deposit from $500 is all that is needed, and there is no minimum age or young-driver surcharge.
