Can I take the car down Kanan Rd to Malibu for the day?
That is one of the better reasons to have one out here. Kanan drops through the tunnel and meets PCH at Malibu in about twenty-five minutes, and the road is sealed the whole way. Anything unsealed is out — no fire roads, no beach sand, no trail heads past the barrier. Morning is cooler and clearer on the descent; the fog usually burns off the coast by eleven.
What is parking actually like at The Oaks and along Westlake Blvd?
The Oaks has surface parking on three sides and two decks with headroom to spare for a full-size SUV; the lot by Nordstrom empties fastest on a weeknight. Westlake Blvd and Moorpark Rd have no meters at all, and the office lots off Hillcrest Dr stay open to visitors during the day. Residential streets in Lynn Ranch carry no permit scheme, so kerb space is rarely the problem.
