Above Franklin the grid simply stops. The Oaks bends into single-lane streets with stone retaining walls and hairpins laid out for Model Ts, and the 1920s Spanish duplexes below have garages down an alley or nothing at all. Vermont and Hillhurst run parallel for half a mile and hold most of what the neighbourhood needs, which keeps daily driving short. Los Feliz Boulevard carries everyone else through, four wide lanes past the Greek Theatre turn.

Concert nights at the Greek fill Vermont Canyon and back the queue down past Los Feliz Boulevard, and on weekends Observatory visitors park on residential streets until the signs run out. Kerb space on Hillhurst turns over slowly, meters run late into the evening, and several blocks above Cromwell are too narrow for two cars to pass without one of them reversing to a driveway. Griffith Park sets the rhythm of the whole neighbourhood.
Bringing a car to Los Feliz
Hollywood sits about ten minutes away, which gives Los Feliz the fastest turnarounds we run anywhere: a message at noon can be a car by two, and a request at seven still lands inside our hours. The handover itself usually happens on the flat stretch of your own street or on Hillhurst, since many of those duplexes open onto an alley with no forecourt to use. Los Feliz and the single-car garage

Where does the driver park during a handover on a permit street?
In the driveway when one is clear, otherwise the nearest legal space with hazards on for the ten minutes it takes. Blocks above Franklin carry permit-only signs day and night, so send the house number and any gate or alley detail in advance. A green zone on Hillhurst works well for a quick swap outside the lunch rush.
Is the road up to Griffith Observatory open to rental cars?
That stretch stays a public road and nothing in the rental agreement rules it out, though the lot at the top fills early and closes when full on weekends. On busy days the shuttle from the Greek lot beats circling. One limit applies everywhere: our cars stay on paved roads, so no fire roads or trailhead tracks above the Observatory.
