Renting a picture car for a shoot in LA

A picture-car request should describe every intended use before the vehicle is selected: dates and hours, location access, who drives, whether the vehicle moves on camera, key custody, staging, cleaning, equipment proximity, branding treatment and return condition. Ordinary rental availability does not establish production permission. Ask LVLX to approve the exact use and vehicle in writing.

Write the shot requirement as operations

State whether the car is background, static hero, moving hero or transport. Identify exterior/interior shots, driver, road or private property, approximate mileage, crew contact and overnight custody. Attach a schedule or concise shot list rather than relying on the phrase picture car.

Disclose every contact with the vehicle

Describe mounts, suction devices, tape, wraps, props, wardrobe, food, smoke, animals, towing, rigging or another activity that could touch or affect the vehicle. Do not assume permission from the model category. Obtain explicit written conditions for anything outside normal driving and parking.

Plan handover, inspection and contingencies

Agree on the exact car, delivery or collection instructions, authorized driver, keys, fuel or charging, condition photos, cleaning, weather hold, schedule change and return inspection. If a hero car is essential, ask how substitution would be handled before the shoot.

A still shoot, music video and film share the same permission boundary

Describe the actual action rather than relying on the production label. A parked background car, a performer inside a stationary cabin and a vehicle moving during a take impose different questions about access, custody, movement and equipment. Ask LVLX to approve the disclosed activity and ask the location or responsible authority about its own requirements. The name music video or photoshoot does not establish permission to mount equipment, move the car on camera or use a road.

If the vehicle must match across several shoot days, document the exact appearance and how a change in the assigned car would affect production before accepting the booking. Do not treat an illustrative blog image as a continuity record or proof of the actual car's condition.
